I'm starting an online playwrights reading circle. I've set up a yahoogroup called "Online Reading Circle for Playwrights." The plan is to read through original plays written by the yahoogroup members on StickCam (audio/video chat website)! The first step in getting you play read is to join the yahoogroup and send a copy of your play to the yahoogroup for consideration! We need to know how many characters are in the play (male and female.) The yahoogroup is set so that message's can only be seen by members, so don't be afraid to post your play. The next important step it so set up a StickCam membership (http://www.stickam.com/) and make sure you have a microphone/speaker connected to your computer so that you can participate. There will be a poll to vote which play will be read through at the next scheduled StickCam chat-room appointment. The very first read through is planned for Nov. 3. The playwright is responsible for getting volunteers to read the characters in their play and to make sure those people have a copy of your play. Also one person to read the action/description. The playwright should not read any of the parts in their play. They should just be in the chat-room to hear their play read through and participate in the critique afterwards. And we'll make the StickCam Chat a private room so that the whole world isn't a part of the reading. All members are encouraged to listen in to the group read through! Afterwards we'll give a critique of the play. Go to groups.yahoo.com/group/playwrights_online/ or www.stickam.com/profile/eturnq for more information.
