Title: Birth Wind
Logline: In a vast wilderness preserve, a fiendishly depraved man hunts a young boy and his sister after killing their parents.
Genre: Contemporary Endangerment Drama.
Synopsis: This dramatic screenplay focuses on REG GERVACIO, a self-centered boy whose absorption with a hand-held computer game nearly drives his family nuts. While on a camping trip with his family, he witnesses the murder of his parents and the abduction of his younger sister by a child-rapist/killer fleeing the law; however, REG soon discovers that his sister has managed to escape from the criminal when he finds her in a cave where both have sought shelter from a severe thunderstorm. The responsibility for seeing that he and his sister flee the disturbed man and get to safety forges a bonding previously inexperienced by the siblings. The self-centered REG GERVACIO’S only comfort in out-witting the madman and finding help for himself and his sister is through his impassioned belief in the prayer of a hand-held computer game warrior. The transition for the boy is going from a rather out-of-control and self-indulgent child to a disciplined, selfless child matured through the formidable experience.
Location: The action in this film script takes place in an American state or national park at the end of the tourist season. The remote setting is a necessity in that it is part of the experience of the children where the natural environment merges with the emotional ordeal they must endure in fleeing from the fiendish man brutally killed their parents.
Principal Roles: REG GERVACIO (11 years old); AMY (his nine-year-old sister); JOHNNIE-MACK SANSFOY (in his late twenties to early thirties, he is the story’s antagonist); and CHESTER (REG’S dog).
