Title: The School of News Genre: Comedy Pages: 108 Logline: 'A TV network's Hostile Environment course becomes the battleground between a wacky, gun-toting war correspondent and the news executives out to fire him.' Synopsis: 'Famed TV war correspondent JOHNNY BONJOURNO comes apart at the seams. Drink, drugs and women lead to increasingly bizarre news reports. The young, hotshot network boss wants him out, but an explosion during a tour of Baghdad leaves Johnny sidelined and recuperating at his luxury penthouse. Johnny torments the head office demanding another assignment. The network can't fire him while he's on medical leave. To get Johnny off the air network bosses convince him to head up the company Hostile Environment course that prepares rookie journalists for war zones. Six young news producers come under Johnny's tutelage. They expect to be taught how to operate in war zones, but Johnny has other ideas, like how to smuggle drugs inside a TV camera, take prostitutes on company money, and use baby dolls to enhance a bomb site. The course quickly descends into chaos. The network battles to get Johnny out of the school at any cost, but it's his baby now and he turns the site of the course into an armed camp.'
